Glendora Kiwaniannes Kiwanis Club History

Glendora Kiwaniannes 1984-2008

Community is a way of life in Glendora . With over 100 active organizations, Kiwaniannes continue to shine.

Pete McCormick, Lt. Governor of Division 35, and a member of Glendora Kiwanis, strongly urged the local men's group to sponsor the women's group , a new creation by International in 1984. With the assistance of Dan Derby, who was Glendora Kiwanis President, and the determination of member Jack Hall and his wife Carmen, an organizational meeting was held on February 29, 1984 at Cousins Restaurant.

Less than two months later, on April 18, 1984, sixty-six eager women from diverse backgrounds had their names on the official charter.

Sponsored by Glendora Kiwanis Club, Kiwaniannes were autonomous and continued as a women-only group (with the exception of Robert Vermons who joined us for a year!)

In October 1996, they became a full-fledged Kiwanis group and have continued as an outstanding organization.

On April 18, 2009, we celebrate twenty five years and congratulate all of the Charter Members, along with our general membership. We look forward to many more years of sharing fellowship and working together in our club projects.
